Over the past few years I have ordered and purchased six custom rods from Oconee Al including two light action spinning rods, one medium action spinning rod, one conventional bait casting rod and two Roberts wrap bait casting rods.  Al’s work is of the highest quality and these are the best rods that I own (and I have many rods).  Each rod has the highest quality components, is perfectly balanced, exhibits excellent craftsmanship, manifests exquisite sensitivity and is perfectly suited for the various applications and techniques for which they are used.  These are truly my favorite’s rods in my entire stock and Al’s dedication, attention to detail and conscientiousness are unparalleled.

For any fisherman, tournament angler or pleasure fisher, there is no better single piece of equipment than a custom made rod.  Both types, (and I am still in both categories,) fish long hours and an ill-weighted or ill-fitting rod can make for an uncomfortably long day.

I own several rods made by Al Bassett – a cranking rod, a jig rod and a worming rod – and all three were made to my specs.  They have helped me make some great catches and will continue to be my “go-to rods” for many years to come.  I highly recommend Al’s custom-made rods and believe they will make you a better fisherman too.
