Fishing Tips
Do you know the difference in the rods that you use? Fiberglass vs graphite and medium action vs fast action. Here is a short guide to the properties and terms of rods.
A fiberglass rod has been around for years and still has their place
in today’s market.
The pros and cons are:
Pro. Least cost and very durable. Used for crankbaits or other similar
applications.
Con. Very heavy
Graphite rods are what most fishermen are using today. You will see IM6, IM7, and IM8, all the way up to IM10. The higher the number the more millions of modulus the blank will have. The more modulus the lighter the rod will be but also less abrasive cost more. The lower the number the heaver the rod will be and also will cost you less.
Action is how the blank reacts when flexed. This is how the tip will react when casting slow, medium, fast, and extra fast.
